Logo Design Brief Template for a New Brand
A logo design brief explains what the brand needs to be recognised for, where the logo must work and what a designer needs to know before beginning visual exploration.
Turn this into my briefStart with the outcome.
A mark that helps the right customer recognise the brand and remains usable across the places the business actually appears.
What to include in the brief.
- 01Brand and category: what you sell, where you sit and what makes you distinct
- 02Audience impression: what should people feel or understand at first glance
- 03Real-world use: packaging, social, storefront, app icon, presentations or print
- 04References: what feels relevant, and what should be avoided
- 05Deliverables: logo variations, source files, colour variants and usage guidance
- 06Process: decision-maker, revision boundaries and launch date
A worked example.
We are a specialty tea brand for people buying small, thoughtful gifts. The logo should feel warm and considered rather than heritage-heavy or overly botanical. It must work as a small foil stamp on tins, a round social icon and a simple ecommerce header. We need a primary mark, compact mark, monochrome versions and editable vector files before packaging production begins in November.
